Sometimes I think about what it would be like to be another person. To live a foreign life...  But then, I am me and others have their stuff and I don't get to look into their lives.  The bestselling book "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio allows us to do that albeit briefly by showing us the unusual life of the unique Auggie.

Auggie was born with facial abnormalities, some amazing coincidence has arranged  that the chromosomes of the parents go together in the most horrible way that August was born almost faceless .

In the many surgical operations experienced as a child the doctors were able to "assemble" a face that is far from everyone elses'.

Usually when I get to this point in the description of the book my friends begin to frantically wave and say, "Oh, no, I do not want to read it ."

But you should because I have not met such a strong person like Auggie , who managed to live , think and love despite his karma.

Auggie is a unique child , full of humour and awareness of how he is being accepted. It is with these qualities he must cross the threshold of the school he is going to attend after a few years of being home schooled by his mom.

The novel tells the story of the first year of school, Auggie's new friends , and relatives and gradually and when the last school bell hits, you have long loved Auggie - he is  wonderful , strong, loving , sincere and true. He is as human as any of us and the outside barrier scares only the most fearful, those who have the courage to look beyond the harsh reality will meet with a pure , loving heart.

I therefore recommend this novel, which briefly can pull us out of the comfort zone , where everyone is beautiful, calm and smiling, to remind us that life might be different.
