She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…
This was not just a story within a story but a full-on experience.
I picked this book thinking that it would be a pretty light read, judging by the cover, but this book is very, very deep and very painful. I was a nervous wreck half or more of the time I was reading it. It destroyed my emotions. Especially towards the middle point of the book, it evoked so many and made me so angry and so frustrated.
This book deals with cheating but I think it did a really good job with the topic and didn't take it overboard. It took a nice approach and explored all of the complications that went with it. The relationship problems if not relatable, were real and the feelings they were experiencing and the way they were handing everything was so mature. It showed the element of loyalty and true friendship that stretches far over the borders of desire, an element that shows us an incredibly strong will which we can see in both of our main characters.
“However, I've learnt that the heart can't be told when and who and how it should love. The heart does whatever the hell it wants to do. The only thing we can control is whether we give our lives and our minds the chance to catch up to our hearts.”
It had a huge emotional impact on me and there was no point in this book that I could put it down. I just had to keep reading in order to know what was going to happen. There are so many surprises and unexpected things thrown at you right from beginning to end that it's just crazy!
The writing was spectacular. Colleen Hoover has such a talent with words you ease through the book in a couple of hours. It is accompanied by a whole original soundtrack by the musician Griffin Peterson so you can hear the songs while Sydney and Ridge are writing them. It adds this element of uniqueness that I have never before experienced.
