After a daring escape from the angels, Penryn and Raffe are on the run. They’re both desperate to find a doctor who can reverse the twisted changes inflicted by the angels on Raffe and Penryn’s sister. As they set off in search of answers, a startling revelation about Raffe’s past unleashes dark forces that threaten them all.

When the angels release an apocalyptic nightmare onto humans, both sides are set on a path toward war. As unlikely alliances form and strategies shift, who will emerge victorious? Forced to pick sides in the fight for control of the earthly realm, Raffe and Penryn must choose: Their own kind, or each other?

First of all, I have a soft spot for Susan Ee's writing style, let's get this out of the way. I don't know what it is, I just know where I am in every single one of her books. I know the street and the trees and the smell and which movie I'm in. And this is something I am so impressed with! Everything flows so smoothly.

The book was good, although the ending kind of ruined it for me. It was just a bit... unrealistic? (and i know we are talking about fantasy here, still) and/or left a lot of things unanswered and/or rushed.  Everything was building up so much at that point that I wanted the flame, the fireworks and the bombing but I only got the flare.

This is a very fast paced and action packed book. PENRYN'S MOM IS FREAKING CRAZY A SUPERHERO. She and Paige are my faaaaaavorite characters. Whenever they appear, I'm hooked even if I had enough reading for the day.

There was a lot more romance in this book than the two previous others combined. Penryn annoyed me quite a lot at the beginning of the book, but all my feelings eased as we reached the middle point.

I wish this would have stayed a 5 (or 6, I don't remember exactly) books series because there is much more to the world and the plot that can be done. I don't think trilogies can explore everything that I want emotion-wise and not only.  I was devastated when I learnt that there are no more books coming out.

The cover is gorgeous but this book took a long time to come out. So my excitement turned into  forgetfulness and therefore, I only enjoyed reading this book but the attachment to the characters was not built up again.

Overall feelings:
